
Dr. McGuire earned her PhD in Reproductive Endocrinology from the University of California Berkeley, where she was a National Science Foundation Fellow and held the Margaret Long Fellowship in Human Biology. She also served as an Instructor of Endocrinology and Human Reproduction there. Dr. McGuire was a Visiting Scholar at the University of British Columbia, where she lectured in the Faculty of Psychology. Her research on reproductive hormones resulted in 30+ publications which collectively have been cited over 500 times.
Most recently, Dr. McGuire was Provincial Director of Research for the Ministry of Health in British Columbia. There she supported the reorientation of the province’s health research system and the redirection of research funding during the COVID-19 pandemic, in partnership with the Canadian Institutes of Health Research (CIHR) and the province’s 9 research universities.
Dr. McGuire lives in rural Ontario, Canada with her family.
