Richard Snyder, DO, MA, Clinical Professor, Pre-Clinical Education Lecturer, and Clinical Core Course Specialist (Internal Medicine) at Oceania University of Medicine (OUM), has written the second edition of his book, What You Must Know About Kidney Disease, scheduled for release in May 2026 (Square One).
“The epidemic of chronic kidney disease has never been more recognized. Our goal is to promote kidney health, and prevent and treat kidney disease worldwide,” said Dr. Snyder when World Kidney Day was celebrated on March 12.
Dr. Snyder is a board certified internist and nephrologist with extensive experience in undergraduate and graduate medical education. He earned his medical degree from the Philadelphia College of Osteopathic Medicine, completed his Internal Medicine Residency at Abington Memorial Hospital (suburban Philadelphia), and his nephrology clinical and research fellowships at the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania. For more than two decades, Dr. Snyder has been a passionate educator for medical students and medical residents.
A prolific writer, Dr. Snyder has written education-focused books on test preparation for nursing and physician assistant students, as well as patient-focused books addressing kidney disease, liver disease, hypertension, medication safety, and dialysis. His most recent book publication was regarding high blood pressure (Wiley 2024). His expertise spans nephrology, internal medicine, and academic research with a special focus on distance education and virtual patient care.
