Reliving the Highlights: OUM’s 2023 Student Conference and Graduation

OUM’s Annual Event is 26-28 May in Brisbane

OUM has concluded another successful Annual Student Conference and Graduation event.

Held in Brisbane Airport Conference Centre from 26-28 May, this exciting weekend became a networking hub for our faculty, distinguished guests, students and graduates.

Our Welcome Reception on Friday evening set the tone for a remarkable conference. The following days witnessed a host of impressive guest speakers, student, faculty, and alumni presentations, and competitive research projects vying for the prestigious Second Annual SGIN Student Research Prize.

Among our prestigious guest speakers were Professor Lisa Jackson-Pulver AM, Dr. Michael Wagels, Dr. Padma Rao, and Dr. Raju Laksmana. Their wisdom and insights invigorated our audience and inspired deep conversations. Not to mention the enlightening presentations by our OUM speakers including Professor Athol Mackay, Professor Paddy Dewan, Juliana Chewlit, and Jessica Bell.

The heartwarming pinnacle of the conference was the Graduation Ceremony on Saturday, 27 May, where students received their medical degrees amidst applause from family, friends, and faculty. This day marked not just the end of a journey, but the beginning of new paths for our students as they step forward into their medical careers.
